Bachan’s Japanese BBQ Sauce
Bachan’s is one of our favorites. It has a wonderful flavor, is non-GMO, and is only 35 calories per serving. Bachan’s goes great with just about everything, Meat, vegetables, seafood, or anything you might think it will go with.
Tikka Masala Sauce
Reading the label is where you will come out ahead here. As mentioned above, not all these sauces are created equal. A good quality Tikka Masala sauce (Like Mayura Cuisine Organic or Maya Kaimal) will be between 60 and 80 calories per serving and have limited fats and sugars. Many of these at the supermarket will have 200 calories plus, just in the sauce, stay away from these.
An easy Tikka Masala meal is chicken cut up, browned in a pan, then simmered in a jar of sauce. Stir in some mixed vegetables for a complete meal.
Curry Sauce
We follow the same rules with Curry Sauce as we do with Tikka Masala Sauce. Check the label and make sure sugars and fats are low and that there are between 50 and 70 calories per serving. There are so many great variations of curry that you can have great variety just with this one sauce. Simmer with Chicken and add mixed vegetables and you are in for an excellent, and easy, meal.
Salsa
We know salsa is generally considered a condiment; we consider it a window to flavor. Essentially being a jar of vegetables and spices, salsa is low calorie, brings a ton of great flavor, and comes in a ton of variety that fits every taste. Salsa works great with any meal, breakfast, snacks, lunch, and dinner. It truly bridges the gap between meals.
For a simple breakfast, make a spinach omelet and top it with salsa. It brings tons of flavor to the meal.
